This Spring, we welcome our freshers as they embark on an exciting journey into a field that is increasingly vital in our aging global society. Over the past three years, our International Program in Gerontology and Long-term Care has attracted a diverse cohort of students committed to advancing care practices, policies, and innovations in the field. Students have come from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Malawi, and Singapore, along with exchange students from the Czech Republic and the Philippines. We look forward to supporting our new students as they pursue their academic and professional development, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact in the field of gerontology and long-term care.

PhD students in the program must complete and pass all required courses before they are eligible to apply for the qualifying exam. They need to successfully pass both the written and oral examinations to officially become PhD candidates. Once again, congratulations to them for moving one step closer to graduation!

The college is hosting a special New Year Fusion event exclusively for international master’s and PhD students, celebrating the transition from 2024 to 2025 and from the Year of the Dragon to the Year of the Snake. Wishing everyone a prosperous and joyful new year!

Commissioned by the Taipei City Government and operated by Taipei Medical University, the Taipei City Xing-Ai Residential Long-Term Care Facility incorporates cutting-edge smart technologies such as smart mattresses, electronic diapers, and intelligent fencing. The facility integrates medical records with Taipei Medical University Hospital and provides 24-hour telemedicine services, creating an innovative smart long-term care model.

At the assistive technology expo, attendees learned about products designed for physical and mental disabilities as well as long-term care needs, including medical aids, personal mobility aids, home living aids, and skill training aids. The event also covered resources and services related to long-term care, government policy promotion, and provided insights into Taiwan’s innovative smart eldercare technology industry.

Taiwanese cuisine is renowned worldwide for its unique flavors and diverse dishes. The advisor led international students on an excursion to experience authentic Taiwanese stir-fry, allowing them to immerse themselves in the local culinary scene. Together, they explored various traditional dishes, gaining a deeper appreciation for both Taiwanese culture and cuisine.
