Dr. Lee’s research interests focus on geriatric syndromes, particularly sarcopenia and frailty, as well as balance and gait, falls, and fear of falling. She employs various methods to address research questions, such as: 1) utilizing clinical assessment and laboratory based examinations (e.g., EMG, inertial sensors) to characterize movement; 2) analyzing population-based health databases; and 3) developing or examining potential interventions, such as physical exercise training, to reduce aging-related health problems. Dr. Lee is a lead investigator on many research projects and is enthusiastic about international research collaborations.

Dr Lin’s has two main research interests. One is the application of artificial intelligence in rehabilitation and long-term care to improving the quality and efficiency of medical assessment and treatment. The other is functional assessment of cognition and physical functions, including development and validation of computer-based testing and computerized adaptive testing.

Dr. Yang is a clinical neuropsychologist who is interested in clinical neuropsychology, forensic neuropsychology, non-invasive brain stimulation (particularly repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, and cross-cultural cognitive assessment. He is currently working on the validation of performance validity testing, multi-modal non-pharmacological intervention in the elderly with risks of cognitive decline, and repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation in cognition for a diversity of neurological populations.

Dr. Chang focuses on aging and dementia issues, especially on feeding and nutrition. Recently, the research entitled “Optimizing support for carers of people with dementia by disseminating the Chinese iSupport Toolkit”. iSupport is a skill training program for informal carers of people with dementia and was originally developed by the World Health Organisation. Our international research team have worked together to co-produce the Chinese iSupport Toolkit which includes web-based programs, eBooks, audiobooks, posters and videos to improve reach and representativeness of carers in the program. The major aim of the current study was to disseminate the iSupport Toolkit to informal carers (family, friends and neighbors or carers hereafter) of people with dementia and evaluate the iSupport Toolkit dissemination.

Dr. Chi’s research interests include the health and medical needs of discharged elderly patients. In recent years, I have shifted my focus to older patients who have been discharged from hospitals or emergency departments. My research concentrates on identifying unmet needs in health and social services, such as the development of high-risk discharge screening tools, enhancement of discharge planning services, and improvement of transitional care. Additionally, my studies involve tracking long-term adverse health events and healthcare utilization among older patients identified as high-risk for discharge.

Dr. Lin’s research interests focus on balance and gait analysis, particularly in the older population and patients with mild traumatic brain injury, stroke, and dementia. He employs various methods to address research questions, such as: 1) utilizing clinical assessment and laboratory-based examinations (e.g., inertial sensors) to characterize movement; 2) developing or examining potential interventions, such as dual-task balance training with wearable device and robot gait training, to reduce aging-related balance problems. Dr. Lin is a lead investigator on many research projects and is enthusiastic about international research collaborations. He also serves as physiotherapist in the Department of Physical and Medicine Rehabilitation in Shuang-Ho Hospital.

Dr. Liao’s research interests focus on osteoarthritis, sarcopenia, obesity, sport medicine, and physiotherapy. He has engaged in the efficacy of protein supplementation combined with exercise for the older population. In addition, Dr. Liao has been a senior physical therapist who uses extracorporeal shock wave therapy for pain management in musculoskeletal conditions. With respect to evidence-based medicine, he has conducted numerous systematic review and meta-analysis studies regarding the related research issues. Recently, he initiated further clinical trials targeting regenerative medicine in combination with physiotherapy for older people with knee osteoarthritis.
